Caca invaders: together for a clean village!

The excessive and repeated presence of dog faeces in the village is regularly singled out for criticism. Fed up with dog mess in the streets of Val d'Isère? So is the town hall!

City employees are working hard to contain this phenomenon, and carry out daily collection rounds. Unfortunately, they can't always be present behind every indelicate owner. Every passer-by should be aware that incivility has a major impact on the daily life and work of local residents.

The aim of the "Caca Invaders" campaign is to raise awareness of the consequences of abandoned dog droppings, and to encourage a collective effort. Together, let's help keep our village clean and welcoming!

Why is uncollected dog poop a problem?

Uncollected dog poop has an impact:

  • Environmental : Contrary to popular belief, dog urine and excrement are not fertilizer! On the contrary, they are a threat to the balance of biodiversity. They contain nitrogen and phosphorus, which fertilize soils and disrupt ecosystems to levels comparable to those of intensive agriculture. The large number of untreated droppings pollutes Val d'Isère's green spaces and protected natural areas.
  • Sanitary Excrement carries bacteria and parasites that can transmit diseases to humans. Children are particularly at risk in winter, when they're playing in the snow. Droppings on sidewalks can also lead to falls.
  • Aesthetics : In addition to causing annoyance and a feeling of disrespect that erodes community life, the presence of dog faeces has a negative impact on the image of our village-station and, by the same token, on the livelihood of many of our fellow citizens.

Steps to take :

  • I never take my dog out without a poop bag. Around 40 free poop bag dispensers are available throughout the village. Find their location on the map above, or by scanning the QR Code on the "Caca invaders" flyers.
  • I pick up its droppings and dispose of them in a garbage can.
  • I don't let my dog run loose. I'm a responsible master and I make sure he doesn't cause any inconvenience to others.

Legal reminder :

  • Dog faeces are forbidden on public roads, sidewalks, public green spaces and children's play areas.
  • Picking up dog faeces is compulsory in Val d'Isère, and is punishable by a fine of €135.
  • Dogs are not allowed to roam the country.
