Request for a full copy or extract of an act

Do you need a copy of a birth, marriage or death certificate?

Family record book

The family record book is an official document issued at the birth of the 1st child.er or civil marriage. He presents extracts from the civil status records of family members. It must be provided to the civil registrar for any event occurring after its issue. (parents' marriage, birth, adoption, divorce, death, etc.).

Recognition of a child

You're not married and want to recognize your child?

For the mother, it is sufficient for her name to appear on the birth certificate. For the father, recognition is necessary to establish filiation with the child. If the couple is married, the father does not need to acknowledge his child.

Birth of a child

Are you about to become a parent?

The birth declaration is mandatory. It must be made at the town hall of the place of birth by a person who attended the birth. within 5 days following the day of delivery (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays).

For declare the birth of a childintroduce yourself at the town hall of the place of birth with :

  • Medical certificate of delivery,
  • Declaration of choice of name (if parents do so),
  • Recognition certificate (if issued before birth),
  • Proof of domicile or residence less than 3 months old (if there has been no recognition prior to the birth),
  • Parents' identity papers (national identity cards or passports),
  • Family record book to register the child (if parents already have a family record book).

Civil marriage

Would you like to get married in Val-d'Isère?

Before putting together your civil marriage filecheck that you answer the legal provisions of the Civil Code:

Civil Code - Chapter II - Article 165: "The marriage will be celebrated publicly in a republican ceremony by the civil registrar of the place of birth. the commune in which one of the spouses, or one of their parents, will have his or her domicile or residence on the date of publication.

The registrar will process it and contact you to arrange a meeting at a later date to complete the necessary administrative formalities and validate the organization of the ceremony with you.

Civil solidarity pact (Pacs)

Would you like to conclude, modify or dissolve a Pacs?

Conclusion of a Pacs

Important your Pacs can be registered at the town hall of your common residence or at a notary's office. The following procedure applies only to the conclusion of a Pacs at the town hall.

For enter into a civil solidarity pact (Pacs)You must meet certain conditions, complete a joint declaration and draw up an agreement.

You must complete and attach the following documents:

  • Joint declaration of conclusion of a Pacs
  • Convention de Pacs (you can use the standard Pacs agreement or draw up your own agreement - contact a notary in the second case),
  • Copies of partners' identity papers (national identity cards or passports),
  • Birth certificate for each spouse (less than 3 months old),
  • Proof of residence in Val-d'Isère in the name of one of the spouses (less than 3 months old),

-> The file must be submitted complete at the town hall. The registrar will then contact you to arrange an appointment for the actual conclusion of your Pacs. Both partners will need to be present at the appointment, with proof of identity.

Modification of a Pacs

Important If you wish to change your civil status: you must contact the civil registry office that registered your initial Pacs (Mairie, Tribunal, Notaire, Consulate or Embassy). The following procedure applies only to the modification of a Pacs initially registered at the Mairie..  

Have you entered into a civil partnership and would like to change the rules governing your life together?

-> To modify your civil solidarity pact (Pacs), you must both agree. You are free to modify your Pacs, as long as you respect the essential rules (obligation to live together, solidarity for living expenses, etc.).

You must complete and attach the following documents:

-> The file must be submitted in full or by registered mail with acknowledgement of receipt. The registrar registers the change and returns the agreement to you.

Dissolution of a Pacs

Important If you wish to change your civil status: you must contact the civil registry office that registered your initial Pacs (Mairie, Tribunal, Notaire, Consulate or Embassy). The following procedure concerns only the dissolution of a Pacs initially registered at the Mairie.

In the case of a separation :

  • If you are all both agree for the dissolution of the Pacs, you must complete a joint declaration of dissolution of Pacs and enclose a copy of your identity papers.
  • If only one of the partners wishes to request dissolution of the Pacs, he/she must contact a court commissioner (formerly a bailiff) who will inform the other partner of the request - contact a commissioner of justice.

The court commissioner informs the civil registrar of the town hall where the Pacs was initially registered.

 

In the case of marriage :

  • With your partner in a civil partnershipThe dissolution of the Pacs is automatic. You don't need to take any steps.
  • With a person other than the one you're in a civil union withThe dissolution of the Pacs is automatic. You don't need to take any steps.

The registrar at the town hall where the civil marriage takes place informs the registrar at the town hall where the Pacs was originally registered. The latter then informs both partners of the dissolution of the Pacs.

 

In the event of your partner's death :

  • Dissolution of the Pacs is automatic. You don't need to take any steps.

The civil registrar of the town hall where the Pacs was initially registered registers the dissolution of the Pacs.

Deaths

When a death occurs in the commune :

  • A doctor certifies the death and issues a death certificate,
  • A relative, a representative of the funeral home or the police - goes to the town hall of the place of death to declare the death, with the following documents:
    • identification,
    • if possible, the death certificate issued by the doctor,
    • all documents concerning the identity of the deceased (identity card, family record book, birth certificate, for example),
  • The registrar will draw up a death certificate, signed by the person making the declaration.

These formalities must be completed as soon as possible, so that other formalities relating to the death (burial, etc.) can be carried out later.
