My village
Villes et Villages Fleuris" label
For over 10 years, the quality of life in Val d'Isère has been recognized by the "Villes et Villages Fleuris" label, awarded by the Conseil National des Villes et Villages Fleuris.
What is the Villes et Villages Fleuris label?
This label rewards the commitment of communes to improving the quality of life of their residents and the attractiveness of their territory. Its assessment criteria take into account flowering and landscaping, as well as the enhancement of tangible and intangible heritage, the management of natural resources, activities and awareness-raising initiatives, and the quality of leisure facilities.
This label reflects a comprehensive and coherent municipal strategy. It is committed to issues such as quality of welcome, respect for the environment (management methods that respect natural resources, actions in favor of biodiversity, natural areas to discover, nature events) and the preservation of social links (with, for example, educational activities organized in the commune...).

Val d'Isère, a 2-flower commune
Val d'Isère (1,600 inhabitants, Savoie) was awarded the "Second Flower" label in 2018. Nestled at an altitude of 1,850 meters, our high-mountain village has succeeded in combining its traditional charm with modern management that respects its environment. Recognition by the Villes et Villages Fleuris label is part of the commune's determination to preserve and enhance its natural heritage, while offering its residents and visitors an exceptional quality of life. This process has enabled Val d'Isère to forge a strong link between its history, its commitment to the environment and its future as an authentic village where quality of life and aesthetics reign supreme.
Val d'Isère, a veritable natural treasure trove located at the foot of the Col de l'Iseran and at the gateway to the Vanoise Natural Park, is a striking example of how urban development and environmental preservation can work in harmony. Over 60% of the municipal territory is protected, testifying to the exceptional richness of its flora and fauna. This unique setting, where nature reigns supreme, blends perfectly with the local cultural heritage, which the municipality takes great care to preserve. The village, with its traditional chalets and stone-and-timber architecture, is a veritable tableau vivant, captivating visitors all year round with its beauty and authenticity.
Val d'Isère's commitment to sustainable development runs deep and is reflected in every municipal action. Aware of the challenges posed by climate change and the specific features of its high-mountain environment, the municipality is taking concrete steps to protect its natural areas while enhancing the quality of life of its residents. This long-term commitment was rewarded in 2022 by the award of the Flocon Vert label. This label testifies to the destination's continuous improvement approach, which promotes alternative modes of transport, encourages energy renovation and raises visitors' awareness of environmental protection. On a more global level, the use of local plants adapted to harsh weather conditions, the choice of perennials to ensure long-lasting flowering, and the promotion of intangible cultural heritage are all initiatives that demonstrate the town's determination to build a sustainable future. By involving residents in projects such as the choice of floral arrangements, Val d'Isère also strengthens social ties and their attachment to this exceptional territory, while pursuing its ambition to be a model of harmonious development that respects nature.
