Environment Day 2019

A record was broken on Tuesday 16 July during the 13th edition of the Environment Day organised by the Vie Val d'Is association with the collaboration of the Ecomove collective. "In total, 1,356 kilos of waste were collected by the 146 waste pickers present, many of whom were children but also people from outside the region (Peisey-Nancroix, Serre-Chevalier). That's huge compared to last year! Among the most unusual objects, we found: half a ski boot, an oyster shell, a sledge made from pipes and a meal tray or a plastic sofa cut into several pieces," confides Margot Boullanger, the director of the Avaline association.

Volunteers, staff from the municipality, the tourist office, the Régie des pistes, etc., went in search of the slightest rubbish in the four corners of the resort equipped with bags and gloves. Col de l'Iseran, TC10, Lac de l'Ouillette, glacier, snow front, Madeleine/Datcha and the L were examined with a fine-tooth comb.

"According to our partner Mountain Riders, only a quarter of the waste comes from tourism. For example, there are fewer people who leave their picnics in the middle of nature. This is mainly rubbish from the ski lifts and the operation of the ski area," says Margot. He added: "The lunch worked very well. We served 220 meals. We'll plan more next year! »
Entertainment stands present in the afternoon: Environment-Waste Department of the Community of Communes, La ferme vagabonde, Mountain Riders, NoK, Protect Our Winters, Planète et Sciences, Art Ski Tech, Cosse Nature
